Each season brings its own variety of things to do in the area

The region around Howlers Inn is filled with adventurous possibilities: fishing, rafting, hiking, horseback riding, skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, Yellowstone National Park... you get the picture. We are located halfway between the college town of Bozeman and the railroad and artist town of Livingston, two charming western towns with historic storefronts, wonderful restaurants, fun shops, and lots of activities.

To make your visit more memorable, choose from the seasonal links below to find attractions and activities that suit your needs.

Summer Activities

Summertime at Howlers Inn is a season not to be missed. Our mild temperatures and seasonal rains give us a pastoral setting not expected for the region. Trophy fly fishing, hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, kayaking, and mountain biking are some popular local pastimes.

The North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park is just over an hour away. Ghost towns, Lewis & Clark Caverns, and the Beartooth Highway make terrific day trips. Howlers Inn is less than two miles to a National Forest access where you can mountain bike, hike, or use an ATV along Jackson Creek. Some guests choose to relax on one of our outdoor decks. We are happy to have you stick around during the day, and will do whatever we can to make your stay as relaxing as possible.

This wonderful season offers ice climbing, wildlife tours, snowmobiling, dog sledding, and skiing. For great downhill skiing, Bridger Bowl is just 15 minutes away, or drive to Big Sky Resort. If cross-country skiing or snow shoeing is more up your alley, Crosscut Mountain Sports Center is just 15 minutes from Howlers Inn with 25 km of groomed trails.

We provide snowshoes for guests to walk around the outside of the wolf enclosures. Oftentimes, the wolves will follow you.
